1. A Day and a Night at the Opera

    On Friday 27 April, five music students from Y10, Y11 and Y13 went along to Channing Hall on Surrey Street to join a workshop about Mozart’s opera, the Marriage of Figaro, given by writer, musicologist, teacher and conductor Nigel Simone. Nigel described a selection of pieces, with live examples performed by the cast.

  2. Sheffield Young Artists' Success

    We had news in April that Courteney Plester and Demi Gao in Year 12 and Taima Al Bahri and Wensi Li from last year’s Year 13 had won awards at the ‘Sheffield Young Artist’ competition and exhibition. The winners of each category received a silver salver inscribed with their name and school, and were invited to meet the Lord Mayor at Sheffield Town Hall.

  3. Year 12 win through to finals of Sheffield Hallam University's Mock Trial

    The experience of taking part in the Mock Trial has been greatly insightful, pulse racing and challenging for all of us. The Mock Trial is run by the award-winning Faculty of Law at Sheffield Hallam University and consists of debating current events in the University’s full-sized courtroom.

  5. Junior International Netball Tournament Success at Disneyland Paris

    The Easter break offered an exciting opportunity for 40 committed players in Year 8 and Year 6 from the Sheffield Girls’ Netball squads to take part in the Junior International Netball Tournament at Disneyland Paris!

  6. Debating Success for Year 10

    Our debating teams travelled to Durham for the national schools’ competition at the start of the Easter holidays where Year 10 students Ayanah Ewusie-Nelson and Georgia Sibley came away as novice champions, beating RGS, Bradford Grammar and Trent College in the final.

  7. Business in China

    Over the Easter holidays in March, the Business and Economics department, consisting of 15 girls from Years 11,12 and 13 accompanied by Mr Spick, Mr Coote and Mrs Bates, embarked upon a 9-day tour of China, taking in Shanghai and Beijing.

  8. Hands on Experience for Students at Cookery Masterclass

    Thirteen pupils, the first to study GSCE Food Preparation and Nutrition at Sheffield Girls’ Senior School, rolled up their sleeves to join in a day of masterclasses hosted at the showroom of bespoke kitchen company my father’s heart.

    As part of Science week, on Wednesday 14 March a group of Year 8 and Year 9 students attended an event called CyberMaze at Sheffield Hallam University.
