We are proud to be the best private primary school in Sheffield. Our aim is to bring out the best in all our girls and encourage them within a happy, structured and caring community to develop their personal and intellectual talents to the full and to leave school as strong, open-minded, confident young women.
Sheffield Girls’ is amongst the leading independent primary schools in Yorkshire, which provides girls with an excellent preparatory education in a healthy and positive learning environment. We help children develop their communication, social and emotional skills through four areas of learning including literacy, mathematics, understanding the world and expressive arts and design.
We focus on providing excellent pastoral care, while at the same time creating challenging opportunities for all of our girls. The joy of learning and the fun of childhood exploration are shared throughout a welcoming community where every girl is encouraged to try everything and do her personal best.
Our Infant School is home to our Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 girls. The facilities on this site include the Infant School Library, Music Rooms, Science Room and Art Room where specialist teaching takes place. In addition, our outdoor spaces are filled with play and learning equipment so learning can flow freely between the indoors and outdoors.

The Infant School is where your daughter will experience the first few years of her primary school education, from Reception to Year 2. It’s here that she’ll develop foundation skills to see her through the rest of her education into the Junior School and beyond. At Sheffield Girls’, we appreciate how critical these first few years are to shaping the way your daughter thinks about the world, about school, and about learning.
As a private primary school, our enriched, fusion curriculum is designed to be exciting, engaging and interesting, to encourage young minds to grow in curiosity. Our curriculum is shaped around skill development to encourage girls to become more confident, capable of independence and able to work in a team.
In Reception, the curriculum is built around the National Curriculum’s Early Years Foundation Stage that focuses upon communication and language, physical development and personal, social, and emotional development.
In Years 1 and 2, our curriculum becomes even broader and more varied. As a private primary school, we extend beyond the standard National Curriculum to enrich your daughter’s learning experience.
