Sheffield Girls' hosts its 146th Birthday Celebration
On Friday 22nd March we marked 146 incredible years of Sheffield Girls’ with a memorable Birthday Celebration event.
More than 40 alumnae and former staff from across the decades were warmly welcomed to join in the festivities. We were delighted to be joined by alumnae from the Class of 1994 and friends as part of their 30 year reunion celebrations. The Hall was abuzz as old friends reconnected, and our fantastic Sixth Form guides were on hand to share insight into what it’s like to be a student at Sheffield Girls’ today and to take our guests on tours around the school. Many commented on the inviting atmosphere around the school and that while much has changed, the ‘essence’ of Sheffield Girls’ remains as strong as ever.
A highlight of the event was a comprehensive update from Liz Rodgers, Assistant Head (Co-Curricular), who shared the remarkable achievements and activities of the school community over the past year. From fantastic exam results to our transformative Bursary Fund, our guests gained insight into the ongoing success and impact of Sheffield Girls'.
The celebration continued with captivating performances from pupils current pupils from Reception right through to Year 13, showcasing their talents in gymnastics, musical rendition and public speaking, as well as two roof-raising extracts from our latest production of Matilda the Musical. The room buzzed with energy and pride as attendees witnessed the vibrant and varied talents of our school community. Emily Tunnard from the class of 1994 said, “The girls were just delightful, and the performances put on for us towards the latter part of the day were to an exceptional standard”
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our alumnae and former staff whose presence made the event truly special, as well as to the dedicated pupils and staff whose contributions ensured such a special 146th birthday celebration.
