Sheffield Girls' hosts fantastic Steely 7 event

On Saturday 15th June Sheffield Girls’ hosted our exciting new event, Steely 7.

The afternoon had a jam-packed agenda, including a checkpoint challenge around Endcliffe Park that started and finished on the school grounds, a Ready Teddy Treasure Hunt on our Infant and Junior school site, garden games, face painting, a barbecue and a farewell performance for Mr Hald, Head of Infant and Junior School, by our younger pupils. With over 400 members of the Sheffield Girls’ community in attendance, the event was a resounding success.

The day began with a buzz as guests arrived and scanned our specially designed QR codes to kick off the Steely 7 challenge in Endcliffe Park. After warm greetings among friends, family, and teachers, participants raced off to start the exciting challenge. Those who stayed on school grounds enjoyed garden games, took part in the teddy-tastic Ready Teddy Treasure Hunt, got their faces painted with vibrant designs, and spent quality time with the Sheffield Girls’ community. Once the Steely 7 challenge was completed, everyone reconvened on school grounds to enjoy a barbecue, drinks, and more social activities.

The highlight of the day was a heartfelt performance dedicated to Mr Hald by our musically talented Infant and Junior pupils, who sang a song celebrating their wonderful experiences with him and his lasting Steely legacy. Mrs Gunson, Head of Sheffield Girls’, then gave a speech thanking Mr Hald and reminiscing about his time at Sheffield Girls’. Mr Hald followed with a speech reflecting on his wonderful 8 years at the school.

Steely 7 proudly supported our Bursary Fund. At Sheffield Girls’ we know that talent is everywhere, but opportunity is not. Our goal is to increase the number of fully-funded Bursary Awards we can offer at Sheffield Girls’, so that more bright, motivated and talented girls from all walks of life can access a Sheffield Girls’ education. Individually, what we can afford to give may seem small, but together, there is power in numbers. By coming together and each giving an amount we feel comfortable with, we can collectively transform lives. We are extremely grateful to the 20 donors who chose to make a gift when booking their Steely 7 tickets, thanks to you £450 has been raised for the Bursary Fund. If you would like to support bursaries at Sheffield Girls’ you can make a gift here.

Thank you to everyone who attended, we really enjoyed welcoming you for our first Steely 7 event and can’t wait to do it again next year!
