Sheffield Girls’ awarded Career Mark ‘Gold’ Award

We’re delighted to announce we have been awarded the Career Mark Gold Award, an external recognition of the high-quality careers education, information, advice, and guidance provided at the school.

The Career Mark Assessor visited us in September and commended the school’s work to continually monitor, review and evaluate the school’s approach to its CEIAG (careers, education, information, advice and guidance) provision: ‘The school continues to critically explore its CEIAG programme on a regular basis, ensuring that it remains, current, vibrant, central to the school’s purpose and, critically, meets the legislative and best practice requirements.’

The Assessor continued, ‘Sheffield Girls’ has fully met the Quality in Careers Standard national criteria incorporating the eight Gatsby Benchmarks. The assessor recommends that Sheffield Girls’ is awarded the Quality in Careers Standard provided by the Licensed Awarding Body Career Mark. In addition, in recognition of the school’s long-standing commitment to career learning for its students Sheffield Girls will be awarded the Career Mark ‘Gold’ award.’

Our Head of Careers, Carole Hall said, ‘We are absolutely delighted to have been awarded this highly prestigious national award. This recognises that we are one of the few schools in England able to demonstrate that we have fully met the Department of Education’s Gatsby Benchmarks which are a measure of the provision of excellent careers education, information, advice, and guidance for all students from Y7 to Y13. As a qualified Careers Adviser, it is a real pleasure for me to work in a school where the teachers are not just concerned about academic achievement but are committed to supporting a range of work experience opportunities, extra-curricular clubs, enterprise education and off-timetable days that help our students to understand the skills they will need in a fast-changing world.’
