Robin Stevens, author of the Murder Most Unladylike Mysteries series, visits Sheffield Girls’.
The sports hall was bustling with budding detectives this morning as murder mystery author, Robin Stevens, visited the school to talk about her series of books, the Murder Most Unladylike Mysteries.
Robin described her inspiration to become an author growing up including how she was a self-confessed ‘massive book worm’ and her love for Enid Blyton books. In particular, she enjoyed how Blyton wrote about a group of friends coming together to solve crime, and how much she would have loved to have been a part of something similar herself. Stevens spoke of how she fell in love with mystery, a genre she describes as ‘exciting, frightening and comforting’, and offered the girls some top tips for their own writing.
Robin then moved on to a Q&A session where she answered some great questions from the girls, including an explanation of the writing, editing and proofing process, and her favourite books. Robin believes her series of books are so popular because mystery feeds the natural curiosity inside all of us, something that many of the girls agreed with. The session concluded with a book signing session, answering questions on a one-to-one basis and giving out bookmarks.
A huge thank you to Robin for coming down to see us and delivering such an exciting morning!
