Celebrations at Sheffield Girls’ as we reflect on the incredible achievements of our A Level students

A huge congratulations to our Class of 2022! With a 100% A* - C pass rate and 79% of grades at A*- A, we couldn't be prouder of their achievements.

This year’s A Level students had not had the opportunity to sit formal GCSE exams in 2020, and after tackling lockdowns and Guided Home Learning as they embarked on their A Levels they have had to show immense resilience to achieve the grades needed to allow them to take their next steps into Higher Education and beyond. 

Head, Nina Gunson said: “ We are celebrating a stunning set of A Level results this year. Despite data showing a national trend of decline against last years grades, which were awarded through ‘teacher assessed grades’, we have in fact achieved equal or higher grade boundaries than last year across the board.” 

As in previous years, we’re delighted to see so many of our students heading off to start degree courses in disciplines where women are still underrepresented. Economics, Engineering, Science and Maths have again been popular choices with our Year 13s. 

A Level results day is always a wonderful opportunity to pause, in the otherwise hectic school schedule, take stock and appreciate the achievements of our amazing students. It’s also a chance to reflect on the team effort involved in producing such great results. Our pupils relied on their self-motivation, resilience and perseverance but also the innovation and support of their teachers, both when they were in school and when they were out of school. 

We wish all of our A Level leavers the best of luck as they embark on the next exciting stage of their academic journey and look forward to welcoming them back to school soon as valued members of our alumnae community.
