Art Out Loud at Chatsworth
Year 12 A-level Fine Art students attended the Art Out Loud festival at Chatsworth House in September with Mrs Andrews and Miss Senior.
They attended talks on Architecture by three inspirational ARTiculate competition winners, a talk by artist Lubaina Himid who made history in 2017 by being named the first black female artist – and the oldest artist - to win the Turner Prize, the UK’s most important contemporary art prize. After lunch they saw London-based artist Idris Khan, one of the most exciting British artists of his generation. Receiving international acclaim for his photographs, videos and sculptures, Idris Khan was awarded an OBE in 2017 for services to art. Idris Khan talked about his practice, exploring the influences and the creative process behind his work.
This was an amazing opportunity to hear artists talk about their ideas and meanings behind their work. Following the visit, two students are preparing to enter this year's ARTiculate competition.
