Amazing Erin's Athletic Achievements at the Northern Athletics Indoor Championships 2017
Congratulations go again this week to Year 7 student Erin Lobley for her Athletics achievements in the Northern Athletics Indoor Championships at the EIS Sheffield on Sunday 5 February. She now goes on to compete in the Scottish National Championships, which will be held this week.
Held indoor and outdoor each season, the Championships cover the North of England and are the most prestigious competition that Erin can enter in her U13 age group. However, she is looking forward to being able to compete on a national level when she moves up to the U15 age group next year!
Erin multi-events, and so trains for 6 or 7 events each week, whereas the majority of athletes stick to 1 or 2 events and solely practise these week in, week out. Her is her list of amazing achievements in the Championships:
Erin was placed 1st in the U13 Girls Shot Put, becoming Northern Champion and setting a new Championship record. She is currently ranked No.1 in UK for Shot Put on official British Athletics rankings, and is also ranked 19th all-time for an U13 girl and 2nd all-time for an indoor throw.
Erin was also placed 1st in the U13 Girls High Jump, becoming Northern Champion and setting a new Championship record. She is currently ranked No.1 in UK for High Jump on official British Athletics rankings.
Mrs Woodger broke the news in school saying: ‘This is fantastic! Unsurprisingly, Erin has also broken the school record in Year 7 for Shot Put and is joint record holder for high jump!’
In her third event of the comp, Erin narrowly missed out on a bronze medal in the 200m by 0.07 seconds!
