A Significant Moment in the School’s History

As it enters its 140th year, the School starts the new school year in an exciting position as a result of the merger between Sheffield Girls’ and Ashdell Prep School.

The merger, which was announced at the beginning of the 2016/17 academic year, has allowed the School to expand into the former girls-only prep school site on Fulwood Road, and operate a dedicated pre-school and infant school for the first time ever. Sheffield Girls’ can now provide specialist teaching spaces for younger pupils in science, art, music and modern foreign languages for its increased 2017-18 intake of over 950 girls.

Further additions to the school include the launch of a new £2.5 million investment into a new gymnasium and fitness suite with a cafeteria, and a state of the art drama studio. The girls are delighted with the new facilities, and the newly refurbished areas of the school have been in constant use since they were opened in September.

Mrs Dunsford  said: “The start of the 2017/18 term was a significant moment in the school’s history. The additional facilities mean we have some amazing new facilities for academic studies, sport, music and performing arts.”
