A Packed day of Sport as the Northern Trust Rally comes to Sheffield Girls’

On Tuesday 12 September, it was the turn of Sheffield Girls’ to host the Northern Trust Rally, welcoming our fellow Northern GDST schools (Newcastle, Belvedere, Birkenhead, Nottingham, Northampton and Shrewsbury) and bringing together approximately 600 extra girls on site for a packed day of sport.

The Senior girls competed for trophies in rounders, tennis, swimming, badminton, volleyball, trampolining and fitness. The trampolining event was held in the new gym, which everyone agreed is a fantastic facility, with some even admitting to #schoolenvy!

Our new Director of Sport, Miss Rebecca Podlaski, who started at Sheffield Girls’ at the beginning of the year was very pleased to give the results at the end of the day, with Sheffield coming in first in Trampolining A & B, Fitness A & B, and Badminton B, and second in Junior Rounders, Badminton A and Swimming, but with all the teams giving their best, thoroughly enjoying the day and having the chance to meet so many GDST girls.

Miss Podlaski, who joins us from Ecclesfield School, said: “What a fantastic display of athleticism across so many different sports; a great level of competition and sportsmanship on show by all the girls, a perfect event to showcase the trust ethos.”
