1. A Future in Art

    Each year, the Rotary Club of Abbeydale showcases the incredible talent of Sheffield’s young artists in an exhibition of outstanding work by senior level students at Sheffield Town Hall. At the end of October, the work of six talented students from last year’s Year 13, and two current Year 13 students, Sophie Myers and Anna Eason, was chosen for the Exhibition, entitled ‘Arts and Futures'.

  2. A Grand Challenge!

    Skilful scientists, Lucy Pirzada in Year 11 and Eva Koffi in Year 13, have wowed the judges in the Youth Grand Challenges, a new education initiative by the British Science Association and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, with their innovative projects to help tackle some of the biggest challenges in global health and development.

  3. A Zany Day at the National Eco-Schools Debate Challenge

    On 7 November, our Eco-Schools co-ordinator, Miss Crowther, and five Year 10 girls took a trip to London’s Westfield Centre to take part in the first ever National Eco-Schools Debate Challenge, held at KidZania.

  4. Co-curricular Creativity is on the Shortlist

    Over the October half term break we received the fantastic news that, from over 300 nominations, the School has once again been shortlisted in the TES Independent School Awards! This time, we have been shortlisted in the Creativity category, with the winners being revealed at the finals of the Awards which will take place in February 2018 in London.

  5. Experiencing life in Tudor Times with Year 4

    The Year 4 girls have been learning all about the Tudors this half term, and in a fantastic finale to their Tudor topic, the staff and girls held a 'Tudor Banquet', where they dressed up in Tudor finery and invited parents to join in with Tudor dancing and singing.

  6. Year 6 Netball Winners!

    Congratulations to our Year 6 team, who represented Sheffield Girls' at the Mylnhurst invitational netball tournament against Spinkhill, Mylnhurst and Norton Free yesterday - and won!

  7. 10 Years of Song

    Sheffield High School for Girls and Birkdale School Sixth Form Choir is looking to organise a reunion to mark 10 years of song! The schools want to reunite singers from the joint choir, which started in 2007, for a celebratory concert in Sheffield on Sunday December 17.   8. A 'Disney Dazzle' of an evening for the joint Sixth Form and Birkdale Choir

    On the evening of Thursday 19 October, ''Disney Dazzle' was the theme for the joint Sixth Form Choir performance with Birkdale school.

  9. An invitation to Buckingham Palace for Lucy and Clara

    Mrs Boulton-Pratt, together with Clara Payne in Year 13 and Lucy Pirzada in Year 11, spent a once-in-a -lifetime day at Buckingham Palace in October, following not one but two major triumphs as both Lucy and Clara won their categories in the finals of the TeenTech awards at The Royal Society in July.

  10. Generations mix for school days Catch Up

    They say the schools days are the best of your life - and 92-year-old Barbara Blossom is still reminiscing about hers! Barbara, who started Sheffield High School for Girls in the 1930s, attended the latest alumni drinks reception in London - 75 years after she left in 1942.
